Join us to tour Santiago Atitlán, cradle of the Tz'utujil Mayan culture, its patronal feast is celebrated on July 25 in honor of Santiago Apóstol; In this tour we will share our history, traditions and customs that enrich this wonderful town, despite having suffered from the internal armed conflicts that Guatemala experienced in previous centuries and the natural disasters of October 2005 that Santiago Atitlán recently lived in today. day jealously conserves its culture, within what they will observe are:

HISTORY AND MEANING OF YOUR CLOTHING AND GASTRONOMY

 

We invite you to know the elaboration of weaving and handmade embroidery where you can have the opportunity to learn how to weave as Tz'utujiles Mayan women do, so it will take 1.5 hours of weaving classes and then we continue with the demonstration and preparation of the traditional food of Santiago Atitlán (the skate) where you will have the opportunity to taste this unique dish.

TRAVELING THE LAKE OF ATITLÁN

Visit of three villages around Lake Atitlan.

In this adventure we will visit the three towns with the greatest cultural impact. Atitlan Expeditions puts at your disposal local guides duly authorized and trained to share their knowledge about the history, traditions, customs, culture and the meaning of the clothing beauty of the towns: Santiago Atitlán, San Pedro La Laguna and San Juan La Laguna. After the tour if you wish, we will gladly take you to a good restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious lunch (lunch price not included in the tour) unless it is a package.

PANORAMAS DE ATITLÁN

VIEWS AND UNIQUE PLACES

Visit of two towns and walk between Santa Cruz and Tzununa. This tour consists of visiting San Antonio Palopo and Santa Catarina Palopo, here you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views towards the three volcanoes that surround Lake Atitlán, the guide will also tell you the story about the origin of these picturesque villages. You will also have the opportunity to visit the factories of handcrafted ceramics and handmade textiles sale by the local people, continuing with the tour to Santa Cruz, where you will have a 45 minute walk to Tzununa, just a few minutes away you will find a restaurant where you can enjoy lunch or just a delicious cocktail.​
