Passion and Adventure with the feathered friends in Atitlan.

Atitlan is the name that leads to the lake, is located at a height of 1,500msnm. considered one of the most beautiful in the world surrounded by three colossus Volcanoes: Atitlán 3,538msnm, Toliman 3,153 masl. And San Pedro with 3020 meters above sea level. As well as high hills that embellish it with dense forests, the main crops of its inhabitants are.coffee, avocado, corn its normal climate is temperate but it is also considered Microlimatico and that makes it very special, so around it there are around 300 species of birds, among which are: Horned Guan, Resplendent Quetzal, Azure-rumped Tanager, Higland Guan, Bar- winged Oriole, Buffy-crowned Wood-Partridge, Blue-throated Motmot, Slender Sheartail, Belted Flycatcher, Wine-throated Hummingbird, Emerald-chinned Hummingbird, Hooded Grosbeak, White-faced Ground Sparrow, White-eared Ground-Sparrow.

This ecological park is located 6 kilometers south of the Lake Atitlán basin, when you reach 1600msnm, you will find a beautiful scene where you can see beautiful panoramic views towards the Pacific coast also towards the volcanoes that surround lake Atitlán,  continuing with our excursion we will enter a humid subtropical mountain forest, here we offer you two options trail Colibri and cabanisi trail.

BIRDS IN THE TARRALES RESERVE

Los Tarrales, one of the most famous places for birdwatching in Guatemala, it's located on the slopes of the Atitlán Volcano at an initial height of 700 meters above sea level. The warm weather there makes it the right place for expert or beginner birding, suitable for adults and children as it has well-accessible and worked trails. Here we will mention some of the 350 most important registered birds:

HORNED GUAN.

This tour is designed for all extreme birders who like the challenge since it requires good physical and mental preparation. The level of difficulty is high, the trail begins between avocado and corn coffee crops then enters a secondary forest after the 2200 msnm the main forest appears with fortune hat that height is the meeting point with our objective (Horned Guan.) If your plan is to reach the summit at the same time we have no problem in guiding you to the top and there you will be able to see interesting Bird species such as the Pink-headed Warbler, Broad-tailed Hummingbird, Garnet-throated Hummingbird, Guatemalan Junco, Wine-throated Hummingbird.

In this volcano we have registered more than 70 species of birds. So we do not doubt that it will be a wonderful experience.

Reaching the Summit is Optional, the maximum height where we observe the Horned Guan is 2800 meters above sea level.

Located at Kilometer 145 on the Interamerican Highway El Novillero, Santa Lucia Utatlán, Sololá. It is located at an altitude of 2,556 meters above sea level. Pine-oak forest, the ideal place where you can observe the Pink Headed Warbler  which is an endemic regional bird, you can also observe a great variety of species. Do not miss this magical adventure through the high mountains of Guatemala, where you can also enjoy the panoramic views of Lake Atitlan and the imposing volcanoes.​
